Cynthie Fisher of Hamilton, Montana, is a self-taught wildlife artist,
working mostly in acrylics. She has been painting full-time for twenty
years, concentrating mainly on depicting unique animal behaviors
and interactions learned from a lifetime of studying and observing
wildlife.
Cynthie has a degree in zoology, a vital field of study for her choice
of artistic interpretations. She also enjoys avian taxidermy, and
learns a great deal about anatomy from her subjects. Her favorite
activity is big game hunting; she has hunted all over North America,
and traveled to Africa ten times, as well as Russia and Europe, taking
many fine trophy animals. The reference she gathers on her hunting
and photography excursions is invaluable in her artwork, and is
reflected in her choice of subject matter, where she concentrates on
an infinite variety of species, both locally and in Africa and Asia. She
paints both birds and mammals, depicting each animal in it's native
habitat, usually in low afternoon light, and often in motion.
Cynthie's list of artistic achievements is quite long; here are a few
highlights:
-Winner of twelve state duck stamp contests
-Ten-time featured artist for Ducks Unlimited
-2001 Rocky Mnt. Elk Foundation Artist of the Year
-2002 Mule Deer Foundation Artist of the Year
-Cover artist for Cabelas catalog, Safari Club International
-North Light Book author
-Member of the Society of Animal Artists
She displays her art at several prestigious national art and outdoor
shows, including the Safari Club International, the Rocky Mountain
Elk Foundation Convention, the FNAWS Show, and the Charles
Russell Art Auction. She donates regularly to many conservation and
hunting groups nationwide, and has over 90 of her images in print.
