In 1982, Elene Weege exchanged a hospital career as executive director of
Medical Imaging for the life of an artist. She attended the University of
Wisconsin in Whitewater, WI to study art and focused on oil painting. In
1998, she moved to Montana from the Midwest. With a deep admiration for
the western landscape, she began artistic studies to paint impressionistic
pastels of the Montana-Scape and Big Sky. Recently, Elene has resumed
oil painting and uses both pastels and oils to interpret the vistas of the west.
Elene was active as an artist in the Midwest and took part in a number of
invitational shows, including MILWAUKEE LAKEFRONT FESTIVAL OF THE
ARTS. In July, 2002, she participated in the TREASURE STATE
INVITATIONAL ART SHOW; Hamilton, MT with a booth and a painting in the
live auction. She is secretary of the Montana Professional Artist
Association and a member of the Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies.
In 2005, she completed an intensive oil and pastel workshop with Artist
Ramon Kelley whose bravura technique has made him a well known painter
in the West.
