Mary Wood is a Montana cowgirl dedicated to
portraying and promoting ranch life and the
wonders of the West. She paints what she
loves; the incredible horse, friends and family,
faithful dogs and the wildlife she has tracked
and studied since childhood.
Mary lives on a ranch in northwest Montana
with her husband, Mark, two dogs and five
horses. She has started her own colts since
she was ten years old and continues to this
day.
For Mary, there is no better way to effectively
gather research for her artwork than having
some skin in the game. Therefore, Mary seeks
out every opportunity to take part in the
rhythm of a well run outfit whether it is a
branding, gathering, sorting, or riding out to
check fence. The smells, sounds and feel of
the day, go into every painting she creates.
